    Abstract: Digital transformation in the education sector has implied the involvement of sustainable management, in order to adapt to the changes imposed by new technologies. Trends in global research on this topic have been analyzed and studied, during the 1986–2019 period. To achieve this purpose, a bibliometric study of 1590 articles from the Scopus database has been applied. The results provided data on the scientific productivity of authors, journals, institutions, and countries that contribute to the development of this research area. The evidence reveals an exponential trend, with special interest in the last five years. The main categories are Social Sciences and Environmental Science. The most productive journal is Sustainability. The author with more articles is Mulder, from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The most productive institution is Delft University of Technology. The USA is the country with the most academic publications and international collaborations in its studies. The main keywords used in the articles are “sustainability”, “sustainable development”, “higher education”, “innovation”, “technology”, “environmental technology”, “technological development”, and “environmental management”. Global research has followed a growing trend, with optimal publication levels in recent years.

    Abstract: Urban resilience (UR), which promotes the implementation of resilient cities, has received widespread attention. The purpose of this study is to visualize the knowledge background, research status, and knowledge structure of relevant literatures by using a Citespace based scientometrics survey. The results show that UR is an increasingly popular topic, with 2629 articles published during the study period. (1) The most prolific publications and journals involved in the flourishment of UR research were identified by co-citation. The United States was the most productive contributor, with numerous publications and active institutions. Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainability, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction were the three most cited journals. (2) Co-occurrence analysis was employed to determine the highly productive keywords, and subject categories in the UR domain, including “environmental science & ecology”, “environmental sciences, “science & technology”, “environmental studies”, “green & sustainable science & technology”, and “water resources”. (3) The diversity of highly cited authors in different countries and regions confirmed the evolution of UR studies. (4) Furthermore, the classification of UR knowledge was performed in the form of clusters and knowledge structure to achieve ten distinct sub-domains (e.g., Urban floods and stormwater management, Urban ecosystem services, Urban landscapes, and Trauma). This study provides an overview of UR research and research topics so that future researchers can identify their research topics and partners.

    Abstract: As a policy that is widely used worldwide, Vision Zero is a long-term strategic goal for road safety in China. The aim of this paper is to examine the literature in the field of Vision Zero retrieved by the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database from 1997 to 2021 based on mapping knowledge domain (MKD) and bibliometric methods. In this paper, we analyzed the overall development level of Vision Zero at different stages using the statistical analysis of the distribution of literature years. Based on the analysis, four major research directions of Vision Zero are obtained through keywords co-occurrence analysis, including “Vision Zero in road safety”, “vulnerable road users’ risks”, “effect of speed on severity”, and “responsibility management for crashes”. Furthermore, we explore the influence and development potential of each country and region of Vision Zero based on the number and citation frequency of the literature, and the distribution of time dimensions. Among the research topics, all countries and regions are clustered into four clusters, and the current status of Vision Zero for countries in the most influential clusters, which include Sweden, the United States, Australia, China, and Norway, have been presented. Finally, an analysis of road safety in China is carried out, which includes displaying the changes in the number of road accidents, fatalities, and serious injuries in China between 2009 and 2018, comparing the fatalities per 10,000 vehicles and the fatalities per 100,000 people between China and other countries, and describing China’s strategic routes toward Vision Zero.

    Abstract: Climate change has increased the vulnerability of many communities and ecosystems, including those on islands. This study evaluates the patterns of scientific publication and visualises network connections between countries and keywords by presenting four sets of bibliometric analyses of publications related to “climate change and vulnerability”, “climate change and island”, “vulnerability and island”, and “vulnerability, climate change, and island”, as obtained from the Scopus database. Based on the combinations of keywords in the article, the study retrieved 1768 documents for “climate change and vulnerability”, 501 documents for “climate change and island”, 270 documents for “vulnerability and island”, and 37 documents for “vulnerability, climate change, and island” for further analysis using various tools. Microsoft Excel was used to conduct the frequency analysis, and Harzing’s Publish or Perish and VOSviewer were used for the citation metrics analysis and data visualisation, respectively. The results are reported using standard bibliometric indicators, such as the annual growth of publications, publications by subject, prolific authors, most active institutions, active journals, highly cited articles, co-authorship by countries, and co-occurrence keyword analysis. The findings revealed that there has been continuous growth in the number of publications on all four research topics since the first publication, and the main subject found on Scopus for all topics in Environmental Science. For “climate change and vulnerability”, the most productive author is James D. Ford, and the most active journal is Climatic Change. The most-cited document has received 3243 citations. Meanwhile, for “climate change and islands”, the most productive author and most active journals are Patrick D. Nunn and Regional Environmental Change, respectively, while the most cited document has received 285 citations. Subsequently, the most productive authors for “vulnerability and island” and “climate change, vulnerability, and island” received 627 citations and 154 citations, respectively. The country with the most links and highest total link strength was the United States of America, according to co-occurrence analysis between countries. Current themes are discussed, and future possible research is suggested based on the clustering of the keywords. Among the clusters that emerged from the network visualisations are those focused on the ecosystem, adaptation, water resources, human and health risk assessments, coastal vulnerability and management, and agricultural and resource management. This study will benefit policymakers, researchers, environmental practitioners, and the public because it provides a comprehensive overview of existing research, potential research directions, and the current state of knowledge on the topic, allowing a better understanding of the research landscape.

    Abstract: Being a biologically diversed hotspot in the global marine ecosystem, the Beibu Gulf is inhabited by a high diversity of fish and serves as a vital fishing ground in China. Due to continuous overfishing, the fishery resource has drastically declined in the Beibu Gulf. However, information about the ichthyoplankton assemblages in this area is still lacking. In this present study, ichthyoplankton diversity, spatial and temporal distribution patterns, and assemblage structures were examined using the specimens collected in the late summer–autumn and winter of 2022 in the Beibu Gulf, and the relationship between ichthyoplankton assemblage and environmental variables was studied. A total of 117 ichthyoplankton taxa, belonging to 13 orders and 42 families, were recorded. The most abundant families were Gerreidae, Leiognathidae, and Sillaginidae in late summer–autumn, accounting for 38.74%, 27.95%, and 9.94%, respectively. Sparidae, Platycephalidae, and Sillaginidae were the most abundant families in winter, accounting for 34.03%, 17.15%, and 8.20%, respectively. Cluster analysis identified five assemblages in late summer-autumn and four assemblages in winter. The most characteristic species in each cluster were Terapon jarbua, Sillago sihama, Leiognathus brevirostris, Mene maculate, and Scomberoides tol in late summer-autumn and Scomberomorus commerson, Acanthopagrus latus, Sillago sp., and Evynnis cardinalis in winter. The results of the canonical correspondence analysis indicated that pH, chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), depth, dissolved oxygen (DO), sea surface salinity (SSS), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) were the major environmental variables affecting the ichthyoplankton assemblage structure in the Beibu Gulf. The finding of this study will provide valuable information in conserving fish spawning grounds and developing fishery management practices to protect fishery resources in the Beibu Gulf.

    Abstract: Oily sludge is a hazardous material generated from the petroleum industry that has attracted increasing research interest. Although several review articles have dealt with specific subtopics focusing on the treatment of oily sludge based on selected references, no attempt has been made to demonstrate the research trend of oily sludge comprehensively and quantitatively. This study conducted a systematic review to analyze and evaluate all oily sludge-related journal articles retrieved from the Web of Science database. The results show that an increase in oily sludge-related research did not take place until recent years and the distribution of the researchers is geographically out of balance. Most oily sludge-related articles focused on treatment for harmfulness reduction or valorization with limited coverage of formation, characterization, and environmental impact assessment of oily sludge. Pyrolytic treatment has attracted increasing research attention in recent years. So far, the research findings have been largely based on laboratory-scale experiments with insufficient consideration of the cost-effectiveness of the proposed treatment methods. Although many methods have been proposed, few alone could satisfactorily achieve cost-effective treatment goals. To enable sustainable management of oily sludge on a global scale, efforts need to be made to fund more research projects, especially in the major oil-producing countries. Pilot-scale experiments using readily available and affordable materials should be encouraged for practical purposes. This will allow a sensible cost-benefit analysis of a proposed method/procedure for oily sludge treatment. To improve the treatment performance, combined methods are more desirable. To inform the smart selection of methods for the treatment of different oily sludge types, it is suggested to develop universally accepted evaluation systems for characterization and environmental risk of oily sludge.

    Abstract: The SE coast of Iran is of great economic and environmental importance. Global climate change affects this coastline through sea level rise (SLR), compounded by a decrease in sediment budgets in coastal areas. This study developed a Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) for the SE coast of Iran using satellite, instrumental and field data. Eight risk variables were defined: coastal slope, regional coastal elevation, mean tidal range, mean significant wave height, rate of relative sea-level change, rate of shoreline change, environmental sensitivity and socio-economic sensitivity. The coast was divided into 27 segments based on geomorphic, environmental and socioeconomic traits. Coastal segments were categorized based on their vulnerability to each risk factor using a CVI. The resulting maps highlighted the vulnerability of each coastal segment to SLR. Approximately 50% of the coast is comprised of mostly rocky shores, which are less vulnerable to SLR. Approximately 33% of the coastal length, including sandy beaches, tidal flats and mangrove forests, were determined to be highly vulnerable to SLR. Approximately 12% of the coastline was determined to be moderately vulnerable. Population centers and infrastructure were ranked as highly-to-moderately vulnerable to SLR. This study highlighted the high vulnerability of low-lying areas, such as lagoons and mangroves, in the western part of the Iranian coast of Makran. Proper coastal management and mitigation plans are essential in the future to protect coastal societies and environments.

    Abstract: The global burden of osteoarthritis among adults is rising. Yoga might be a potential solution for the management of osteoarthritis. This systematic review aims to synthesise the content, structure and delivery characteristics of effective yoga interventions for the management of osteoarthritis. The JBI methodology for systematic reviews of effectiveness and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines will be followed. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effectiveness of yoga interventions for the management of osteoarthritis in adults will be included in this review. We aim to search the following databases to find published and unpublished studies: MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycInfo, SPORTDiscus, AMED, Web of Science, CENTRAL, TRIP, AYUSH Research Portal, ABIM, CAM-QUEST, PeDro, OpenGrey, EthOS, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses and DART-Europe-e-theses portal. No date or language restrictions will be applied. A narrative synthesis will be conducted with the help of tables. A meta-regression will be conducted to explore the statistical evidence for which the components (content, structure and delivery characteristics) of yoga interventions are effective.

    Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners established the WHO Thematic Platform for Health Emergency and Disaster Risk Management Research Network (HEALTH EDRM RN) in 2016 to respond to the increasing burden of recent health emergencies and disasters. The mission of the HEALTH EDRM RN, whose secretariat is located at the WHO Kobe Centre (WKC), is to promote global research collaboration and strengthen research activities to inform policies and programs by generating new evidence to manage health risks associated with all types of emergencies and disasters. With the strong support and involvement of all WHO regional offices, the HEALTH EDRM RN now works with more than 200 global experts and partners to pursue its mission. The first Core Group Meetings of the HEALTH EDRM RN were held on 17–18 October 2019, and concluded with the HEALTH EDRM RN-activity priorities to (1) promote operational research to better meet the needs of emergency- and disaster-exposed individuals and communities and efforts to translate science to policies and programs and (2) strengthen the research capacity of the Health EDRM community. In collaboration with the Japanese Association for Disaster Medicine, the WKC held a workshop on 21 February 2020, in which 20 Japanese experts from different research fields participated to further discuss these two points. This paper summarizes the discussion at the workshop.

    Abstract: Malaria remains a global disease of public health concern. Malaria control collaborative initiatives are widely being adopted to reduce malaria burden by various countries. This review sought to describe current and past cross-border malaria control initiatives focusing on key activities, outcomes and challenges. An exhaustive search was conducted in Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar and EBSCOhost using the following key words: cross-border malaria control, cross-border malaria elimination, bi-national malaria control and multinational malaria control, in combination with Boolean operators “AND” and “OR”. Eleven studies satisfied the inclusion criteria for this review. The majority of collaborative initiatives have been formed within regional developmental and continental bodies with support from political leadership. The studies revealed that joint vector control, cases management, epidemiological data sharing along border regions as well as resource sharing and capacity building are some of the key collaborative initiatives being implemented globally. Collaborative initiatives have led to significant reduction in malaria burden and mortality. The majority of collaborative initiatives are underfunded and rely on donor support. We concluded that cross-border malaria collaborative initiatives have the capacity to reduce malaria burden and mortality along border regions; however, inadequate internal funding and over-reliance on donor funding remain the biggest threats to the survival of collaborative initiatives.
