Abstract: In the modern world, environmental issues are quite acute. Global environmental problems are also relevant for Russia today. It should be recognized that our country is one of the most polluted countries in the world, which negatively affects the quality of life and health of the population. The emergence of environmental problems is associated with the ever-growing man-made impact on the natural environment. Currently, about 55–60 million tons of solid municipal waste is generated in Russia every year, 90 % of which is sent to landfills and unauthorized landfills. The recycling rate in Russia is no more than 10 %, while in the European Union countries up to 100 % of household waste is processed. Europe has been implementing a targeted environmental policy for working with solid municipal waste for many years. Back in December 2005, the European Commission published a report on the development of a strategy for the prevention of waste generation and recycling. its goal is to reduce the negative impact on the environment associated with the disposal of household waste. Waste policies and targets established at the European Union level include minimum requirements for the management of certain types of waste. The subject of research in the article is the system of solid municipal waste management, waste management strategies. The purpose of the article is to study the current state of the waste management system in the world and in Russia, analyze the features and prospects, and develop recommendations based on foreign experience. Research methodology: comparative and comparative analyses. The article presents analytical data that characterize the current situation, analyzes the forecast values of solid municipal waste generation and disposal in different regions of the world. A detailed analysis of the situation in Russia is given, conclusions on the current situation with regard to waste are given, and recommendations are made. Based on the analysis of statistical data that characterize the state of the solid municipal waste management system in the world and in Russia, conclusions were made about the problems of its development. One of the main reasons is the lack of attention on the part of state bodies, as well as the lack of funding for the implementation of state programs and the inefficient use of allocated funds. The analysis of foreign experience in waste management allowed us to develop recommendations for the application of management strategies. This article is part of the author's research in the field of choosing optimal strategies for managing the development of a "Smart city", including strategies for managing the disposal of solid municipal waste of the housing and communal complex. the author has analyzed and collected interesting material on this topical issue, and plans to publish a monograph.

Abstract: The article discusses the concept of environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) and their importance for sustainable development. In recent years, this concept has gained significant popularity as a basis for assessing the non-financial performance of companies, while investors and stakeholders are increasingly aware of the importance of ESG factors in creating long-term value, risk management and stakeholder engagement. The paper explores key trends and challenges in the current business environment, such as the proliferation of reporting forms, the need for more standardized and comparable data on ESG factors, and the importance of stakeholder participation in decision-making on the implementation of ESG policies. The author emphasizes the correspondence between the goals of sustainable development and ESG factors in the activities of companies. The study provides examples of successful implementation of ESG by companies from different sectors of the economy. The theoretical basis of the ESG concept is explored, outlining the key principles, as well as the connection with corporate performance. ESG factors are identified as key drivers of the sustainability process, and this article provides an in-depth analysis of each of these factors, highlighting the challenges and opportunities they present to implement this concept. The article also looks at the specific challenges and opportunities for ESG in emerging economies, in particular Russia, where the transition to a more resilient economy is complicated by geopolitical tensions and sanctions pressure in 2022. The article explores the issue of sanctions creating risks and opportunities for companies and investors seeking to introduce ESG into business practice. An analysis of ESG implementation practices in Russian organizations based on some case studies and empirical data is provided to illustrate the current state of ESG implementation in the country. The author identified the main problems and opportunities for companies in Russia. Overall, the article presents evidence-based conclusions and suggestions for companies, investors, policy makers and society to inform their efforts to create a more sustainable future. The author emphasizes the importance of continuous learning, the adaptation of ESG policies for business, cooperation between companies and stakeholders for the effective implementation of environmental, social and governance factors that have the potential to shape sustainable development in the 21st century.

Abstract: Increasingly stringent environmental regulations for landfill in the world’s advanced economies, as well as the demand for renewable organic chemicals and fuels, are pushing the manufacturing industry towards greater environmental sustainability in order to improve economic efficiency and meet consumer demand. The author presents that the valorization of food waste is one of the current research areas that has received a lot of attention in the past few years as a potential alternative to the disposal of a wide range of waste in landfills. In particular, it is shown that the development of environmentally sound and innovative strategies for the treatment of such waste is an area of increasing importance in our modern society. Landfilling, incineration and composting of waste are common and traditional waste management technologies. However, they are not suitable for organic waste treatment due to the formation of toxic methane and unpleasant odors, high energy consumption and slow decomposition reaction. Moreover, in the process of decomposition, no valuable product is formed. Rather than recycle and degrade food waste, recent research has focused on its use as an energy source, such as the growing production of bioethanol and biodiesel. Organic waste is also useful for the production of useful organic chemicals (like succinic acid or bioplastics) through biorefining or biotechnology. The purpose of this article is to summarize recent developments in waste valorization strategies for the sustainable production of chemicals, materials and fuels through the development of sustainable production strategies.

Abstract: The study found that there is a problem of low efficiency of engineering, transport infrastructure and energy supply of cities. It is revealed that each country is trying to formulate its national goals, in which issues of climate conservation, innovation, improving the quality of education, and the development of green energy are put forward as the most effective tools for their implementation. It is proved that Russia, in order to ensure breakthrough development in the conditions of transition to a new social formation, is making efforts aimed at solving global problems jointly with other countries, which necessitates the creation of modern mechanisms in the field of production process management, based on measures to comply with environmental standards and strict regulation of legislation aimed at rational use of natural resources and environmental protection. It is proved that in order to achieve the national goal of the country, in terms of creating a comfortable living environment, accelerated development of housing construction is necessary, since it acts as a driver of economic development in all reproductive systems. It was revealed that rural housing construction developed most intensively on the territory of the Chechen Republic. It is proved that the growth of housing construction, especially in rural areas, is not accompanied by the creation of a high-quality urban environment. It was revealed that in Grozny, the area occupied by public highways occupies about 9 % of the total area of the urban area, which is a significant deviation from world standards (at least 25 % of the total area of the cities). The result of the existence of the existing transport system is the presence of «traffic jams», an increase in the time spent by the population when moving, lack of comfort when using public transport. A set of measures has been proposed that will allow to modernize existing and build new facilities of engineering transport infrastructure equipped with technical systems based on digital technologies. It is established that the construction of infrastructure facilities requires additional sources of financing. The most effective method of attracting investments using the mechanism of public-private partnership is proposed. It is proved that the objects of engineering and transport infrastructure basically have a social orientation, which implies the existence of long payback periods and a low level of profitability. This circumstance imposes additional difficulties on state and municipal authorities to ensure the investment attractiveness of new projects.

Abstract: Global environmental problems all over the world are extremely acute, they are associated with the constantly growing man-made impact of man on the environment. Extraction and processing of resources affect production processes, the natural environment, and public health. This is especially true of waste generated in the production and consumption process, which cannot be used for further use due to technical or economic reasons. Despite the fact that municipal solid waste (MSW) constitutes less than 1 % of the total amount of industrial and domestic waste generated, it is the most annoying factor for the population, especially in large cities and adjacent areas. The basis of the strategy is the separate collection of waste by the population, the “sorting depth” depends on the current policy in this area: from 4–5 types of MSW in a number of European countries, to 40 in some regions of Japan. The subject of the research is the solid waste management system. The purpose of the article is to study the waste management system in the world and in Russia, analyze the current situation and choose a management strategy to solve the problem of waste disposal. Research methodology: financial and economic analysis. The article presents analytical data on the formation and disposal of electronic and plastic MSW, which have a clear tendency to significant growth, leading to an increase in incineration and disposal. Global problems are also relevant for Russia, where the level of MSW processing is not high and so far there are about ten incineration plants (WIPs) with low productivity. For comparison, the number of incinerators: in Switzerland – 29, in Japan – 1900, in Sweden – 21, in Denmark – 32, the total number of inhabitants in these countries is less than the population of Russia. New factories are expensive both during construction and operation. The article provides an assessment of the economic consequences of switching to MSW processing by incineration at an incineration plant, provides a financial and economic model of the project. Analysis of foreign experience made it possible to understand the causes of the problems and develop recommendations. This article is part of the author’s research in the field of choosing optimal strategies for managing the disposal of solid municipal waste, based on the collected material, it is planned to publish a monograph.

Abstract: The concept of sustainable development on the international agenda emerged in the second half of the 20th century, when environmental and social problems became an obvious factor hindering sustainable economic development. The transport system is central to solving social and environmental problems. In this article, the authors consider investment projects in the field of sustainable transport facilities, the prospects for the introduction of new technologies of transport logistics will effectively influence the development of territories. It is shown that when attracting sustainable financing, higher indicators and effective resource management are achieved, as well as the introduction of innovative approaches in the development of transport facilities, which contributes to the development of regions. In the article, the authors analyze the ongoing investment projects in India, Canada, Russia and China, which are developing their own infrastructure projects for the development of sustainable infrastructure, the formation of new instruments for financing projects, international initiatives are being developed to obtain positive economic effects in the long term. In the context of building a global system, cooperation with large countries that have significant geopolitical and geo-economic influence plays an important role, including Russia, which is relevant at the present time. The article concludes that the initiative to implement a number of large projects in the field of infrastructure and logistics development, most of which implies further expansion and involvement of new participants, will make it possible to talk about the existence of a good foundation for the implementation of equal economic cooperation in the development of new investment and technological projects in the field of sustainable transport facilities.
