Abstract

Clinical and endoscopic management of subepithelial tumors (SET) remains challenging. SET are generally asymptomatic incidental findings. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has an essential role in discriminating benign versus potentially malignant lesions. However, even with EUS-guided biopsy, a definitive diagnosis can often not be achieved. Novel, simple endoscopic resection techniques are powerful tools for tissue acquisition and may also provide effective therapy. This article reviews current management of SETs with a focus on endoscopic resection techniques.
