Proteins which are derived from bacterial ancestors but have evolved a new function in eukaryotes are shown in green. Proteins that have evolved in the eukaryotes are shown in blue. Other proteins that are present in most opisthokonts or plantae but could not be found in Ectocarpus have been colored in red.
