Planar Oxalic Acid Derivatives The Crystal Structure of Potassium Methyl Oxalate and Potassium S-Methyl MonothiooxalateThe structures of the title compounds (1 and 3) have been determined from X-ray data and refined to R = 0.072 (770 reflexions, space group P21/c, Z = 4) and 0.045 (1033 reflexions, space group P1¯, Z = 2) respectively. The anions of both compounds are approximately planar. The dihedral angles are 1.2° and 12.5° respectively. The ester groups have normal Z-conformation.

Die Struktur der Titelverbindungen (1 und 3) wurde röntgenographisch bestimmt und bis zu R-Werten von 0.072 (770 Reflexe) bzw. 0.045 (1033 Reflexe) verfeinert. 1 kristallisiert monoklin in der Raumgruppe P21/c, 3 triklin in P1¯. Beide Anionen sind bei Interplanarwinkeln von 1.2 bzw, 12.5° nahezu planar. Die Estergruppierungen besitzen Z-Konformation.
