Notes:
The behaviour of (i) the Raman integrated intensity of the v16 (405 cm-1) vibrational band and (ii) the depolarized Rayleigh wing of benzene over its whole liquid range as a function of temperature was examined. In case (i) the variation obtained seems to be monotonic, but in case (ii) a change in the intensity variation is observed around 37-40°C. This change may be attributed to a modification of symmetry in the local molecular environment of a given benzene molecule.
