Durch Umsetzung von Trialkylbleihalogeniden mit Natriummethoxid in Äthern wurden Trialkylbleimethoxide R3PbOCH3 (R = CH3, C2H5, n-C3H7, n-C4H9) dargestellt. Das polymere, nach dem IR-Spektrum O-Brücken (…—PbR3—(OCH3)—PbR3 —…) enthaltende Trimethylbleimethoxid ist im Gegensatz zum Trimethylzinnmethoxid die stabilste Verbindung der Reihe. Das bis 200° stabile Blei(II)-methoxid ist nur durch Umsetzung des Fluorids (PbF2) mit einem Überschuß von Kaliummethoxid in Methanol rein darstellbar. Bei Einsatz von Bleidichlorid, -dibromid oder -dijodid bilden sich dagegen polymere, farblose, Halogenid enthaltende Methoxide der Zusammensetzung [Pb(OCH3)2]3.PbX2. Die Infrarotbanden werden zugeordnet von: (CH3)3PbF, (CH3)3PbCl, (CH3)3PbBr, (CH3)3PbOCH3; (C2H5)3PbCl, (C2H5)3PbOCH3; (n-C3H7)4Pb, (n-C3H7)3PbCl, (n-C3H7)3PbOCH3; NaOCH3, Pb(OCH3)2 und von (CH3)3PbOSi(CH3)3.
