Abstract Five consecutive infants had a laparoscopic Duhamel-Martin procedure without colostomy for Hirschsprung's disease. No major problems occured, but the procedures were long-lasting, requiring postoperative intensive care for 1 night in four of teh five patients. In on patient the procedure was converted to an open one, as the quality of the anastomosis was doubtful. It is concluded that the Duhammel-Martin procedure can be carried out safely in a one-stage operation in young infants using a laparoscopic approach.
