    Abstract: The population with diabetes is more susceptible to severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2, and have a significantly higher coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) mortality rate. Previous studies have shown low willingness for the COVID-19 vaccination, and there are limited reports on the behavior and relevance of the COVID-19 vaccination. This study aimed to determine the uptake behavior and associated factors of the COVID-19 vaccine. In our cross-sectional questionnaire-based clinical study, 645 diabetes patients affiliated with two affiliated hospitals of Changzhi Medical College completed the questionnaire between June to October 2021. The health belief model (HBM) was used in examining factors influencing vaccination behavior. After adjusting for covariates with significant differences in social background characteristics, a multivariable logistic regression was used to determine predictors related to uptake in COVID-19 vaccination. A total of 162 vaccinated and 483 unvaccinated eligible diabetic patients were recruited. Patients who believed that the COVID-19 syndrome is severe (aOR3.67, 95%CI 1.88–7.17; p 〈 0.001), believe that vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of SARS-Cov-2 infection (aOR3.48, 95%CI 1.80–6.73; p 〈 0.001), believe that vaccination is beneficial to themselves and others (aOR 4.53, 95%CI 1.71–11.99; p = 0.002), think that relatives’ vaccination status has a positive impact on their vaccination behavior (aOR 5.68, 95%CI 2.83–11.39; p 〈 0.001), and were more likely to be vaccinated; worrying about the adverse health effects of COVID-19 vaccination (aOR 0.18, 95%CI 0.09–0.35; p 〈 0.001) was negatively correlated with COVID-19 vaccination behavior. Health care workers should provide targeted informative interventions based on the safety and protective effects theory of HBM to improve vaccination behavior in patients with diabetes.

    Abstract: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with cardiovascular risk, and there are various definitions, but which is most predictive of future cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the Chinese population is still unclear. MetS was defined with the revised ATP III (Third Adult Treatment Panel Report), International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and the Joint Committee for Developing Chinese Guidelines (JCDCG) definitions. Cox regression was used to estimate the hazard risk of cardiovascular disease among 20,888 participants using the Chinese Hypertension Survey (CHS) data. Sensitivity, specificity, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve distance were used to test the ability of three MetS criteria to identify CVD. During an average follow-up of 4.89 years of 20,888 participants, 925 CVD events occurred (stroke, 560; coronary heart disease, 275; and other cardiovascular events, 119). The revised ATP III criteria identified the most individuals with MetS and had the highest prevalence of MetS. In addition, MetS was associated with a high risk of CVD in both men and women, according to three criteria. The highest diagnostic specificity was for IDF in men and JCDCG in women. The revised ATP III criteria had the highest sensitivity and shortest ROC curve distance in both men and women. Although the MetS definitions, including the revised ATP III, IDF, and JCDCG, are all related to the increased risks of CVD, overall, the revised ATP III performs best and is the most recommended for the Chinese population.

    Abstract: The timely and accurate estimation of soil water content (SWC) and evapotranspiration (ET) is of great significance in drought estimation, irrigation management, and water resources comprehensive utilization. The unsupervised classification was used to identify the crops in the region. Based on MOD16A2 and the meteorological data, a SEBS model was used to estimate the ET in the Jiefangzha Irrigation Field from 2011 to 2015. Based on the crop water stress index (CWSI), the SWC in 2014 was retrieved and verified with the measured SWC on different underlying surfaces (sunflower, corn, wheat, and pepper). The results showed that: (1) The positional accuracy of maize, sunflower, wheat, and pepper are 0.81, 0.80, 0.90, and 0.82, respectively; (2) The annual ET from 2011 to 2015 presented well the spatial distribution of the ET within the field; (3) The validation results of the estimated SWC on the underlying surface of wheat and sunflower showed a good robustness, the R2 was 0.748 and 0.357, respectively, the RMSE was 2.61% and 2.309%, respectively, and the MAE was 2.249% and 1.975%, respectively. However, for maize and pepper with more irrigation times, the SWC estimation results, based on the CWSI were poor, indicating that the method was more sensitive to soil drought and suitable for the crop SWC estimation with less irrigation and drought tolerance. The results can provide a reference for the agricultural water resources management and the irrigation forecast at a regional scale.

    Abstract: The adjustment of crop planting structure can change the process of water and material circulation, and thus affect the total amount of water and evapotranspiration in the irrigation district. To guide the allocation of water resources in the region, it is beneficial to ascertain the effects of changing the crop planting structure on water saving and farmland water productivity in the irrigation district. This paper takes Yingke Irrigation District as the background. According to the continuous observation data from 2012 to 2013, Based on the modified Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model and taking advantage of monthly scale remote sensing EvapoTranspiration (ET) and crop growth parameters (leaf area index and shoot dry matter), we tested the simulation accuracy of the model, proposed irrigation efficiency calculation methods considering water drainage, and established the scenario analysis method for the spatial distribution of crop planting structure. Finally, we evaluated the changes in water savings in irrigation district projects and resources, the irrigation water productivity and the net income water productivity under different planting structure scenarios. The results indicate that the efficiency of irrigation has increased by 15~20%, while considering drainage, as compared with conventional irrigation efficiency. Additionally, the adjustment of crop planting structure can reduce regional evapotranspiration by 14.9%, reduce the regional irrigation volume by 30%, and increase the net income of each regional water area by 16%.
