    Optimization of magnet sorting in a storage ring using genetic algorithms (2014)

    Description: In this paper, the genetic algorithms are applied to the optimization problem of magnet sorting in an electron storage ring, according to which the objectives are set so that the closed orbit distortion and beta beating can be minimized and the dynamic aperture maximized. The sorting of dipole, quadrupole and sextupole magnets is optimized while the optimization results show the power of the application of genetic algorithms in magnet sorting.

    Low emittance lattice optimization using a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (2011)

    Description: A low emittance lattice design and optimization procedure are systematically studied with a non-dominated sorting-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm which not only globally searches the low emittance lattice, but also optimizes some beam quantities such as betatron tunes, momentum compaction factor and dispersion function simultaneously. In this paper the detailed algorithm and lattice design procedure are presented. The Hefei light source upgrade project storage ring lattice, with fixed magnet layout, is designed to illustrate this optimization procedure.

    Simulation of beam gas coulomb scattering in HALS (2015)

    Description: In conventional research on beam gas coulomb scattering (BGCS), only the related beam lifetime using the analytical method is studied. In this paper, using the particle-in-cell Monte Carlo collisions (PIC-MCC) method, we not only simulated the beam lifetime but also explored the effect of BGCS on the beam distribution. In order to better estimate the effect on particle distribution, we study the ultra-low emittance electron beam. Here we choose the HeFei Advanced Light Source. By counting the lost particles in a certain time, the corresponding beam lifetime we simulated is 4.8482 h/13.8492 h in x / y , which is very close to the theoretic value (5.0555 h /13.7024 h in x / y ). By counting the lost particles relative to the collided particles, the simulated value of the loss probability of collided particles is 1.3431e-04, which is also very close to the theoretical value (1.3824e-04).     Broadband impedance calculations and single bunch instabilities estimations of of the HLS-II storage ring (2015)

    Description: The upgrade project of the Hefei Light Source storage ring is under way. In this paper, the broadband impedances of resistive wall and coated ceramic vacuum chamber are calculated using the analytic formula, and the wake fields and impedances of other designed vacuum chambers are simulated by CST code, and then a broadband impedance model is obtained. Using the theoretical formula, longitudinal and transverse single bunch instabilities are discussed. With the carefully-designed vacuum chamber, we find that the thresholds of the beam instabilities are higher than the beam current goal.

    Effects of biodiesel on continuous regeneration DPF characteristics (2017)

    Description: A critical requirement for the implementation of DPF on a modern engine is the determination of Break-even Temperature (BET) which is defined as the temperature at which particulate deposition on the filter is balanced by particulate oxidation on the filter. In order to study the influence of biodiesel on the Regenerating Characteristics of Continuously Regeneration DPF, Bench test were carried out to investigate the BET of a continuously regeneration DPF assembled with a diesel engine fueled with neat diesel and biodiesel. Test results show that at the same engine operation conditions the fuel consumption is higher for biodiesel case, and also the intake air quantity and boost pressure are lower; the BET for the Diesel fuel is about 310 ° while it is about 250 ° for the Biodiesel case.     Description: Combining with the arrester simulation device put into use successfully, this paper introduces the application of arrester test in the insulation resistance measurement, counter test, Leakage current test under DC 1mA voltage and leakage current test under 0.75U1mA. By comparing with the existing training, this paper summarizes the arrester simulation device’s outstanding advantages including real time monitoring, multi-type fault data analysis and acousto-optic simulation. It effectively solves the contradiction between authenticity and safety in the existing test training, and provides a reference for further training.

    Analysis of Contraction Joint Width Influence on Load Stress of Pavement Panels (2018)

    Description: The width of transverse contraction joint of the cement road varies with temperatures, which leads to changes in load transmission among plates of the road surface and affects load stress of the road plates. Three-dimensional element analysis software EverFE is used to address the relation between the contraction joint width and road surface load stress, revealing the impact of reducing contraction joint width. The results could be of critical value in maintaining road functions and extending the service life of cement road surfaces.
