Description: The paper researches a novel engineering application of Lipschitz exponent function and harmonic wavelet for detecting tool condition. Tool wear affects often the quality grade of products and is gradually formed during cutting process. Meanwhile, since cutting noise is very strong, we think tool wear belongs to detecting weak singularity signals in strong noise. It is difficult to obtain a reliable worn result by raw sampled data. We propose singularity analysis with harmonic wavelet for data processing and a new concept of Lipschitz exponent function. The method can be quantitative tool condition and make maintaining decision. Test result was validated with 27 kinds of cutting conditions with the sharp tool and the worn tool; 54 group data are sampled by acoustic emission (AE).

Description: We attempt to address the issues associated with reliability estimation for phased-mission systems (PMS) and present a novel data-driven approach to achieve reliability estimation for PMS using the condition monitoring information and degradation data of such system under dynamic operating scenario. In this sense, this paper differs from the existing methods only considering the static scenario without using the real-time information, which aims to estimate the reliability for a population but not for an individual. In the presented approach, to establish a linkage between the historical data and real-time information of the individual PMS, we adopt a stochastic filtering model to model the phase duration and obtain the updated estimation of the mission time by Bayesian law at each phase. At the meanwhile, the lifetime of PMS is estimated from degradation data, which are modeled by an adaptive Brownian motion. As such, the mission reliability can be real time obtained through the estimated distribution of the mission time in conjunction with the estimated lifetime distribution. We demonstrate the usefulness of the developed approach via a numerical example.

Description: Alcoholic liver diseases cause high incidence of death worldwide. However, computational diagnosis and classification of alcoholic hepatitis have not yet been established. In this study, we used general regression neural network (GRNN) model with a high-performance classification ability to diagnose and classify alcohol hepatitis. We used tenfold cross-validation to demonstrate the error rate of networks. The results show an accuracy of 80.91% of the back diagnosis in 110 patients and the accuracy of 81.82% of predicting-diagnosis in 11 patients referring to the clinical diagnosis made by a group of experts. This study suggested that using the liver function tests as the input layer variables of GRNN model could accurately diagnose and classify alcoholic liver diseases.

Description: Based on recent research by Li and Liu in 2011, this paper proposes the application of support vector machine- (SVM-) based semiactive control methodology for seismic protection of structures with magnetorheological (MR) dampers. An important and challenging task of designing the MR dampers is to develop an effective semiactive control strategy that can fully exploit the capabilities of MR dampers. However, amplification of the local acceleration response of structures exists in the widely used semiactive control strategies, namely “Switch” control strategies. Then the SVM-based semiactive control strategy has been employed to design MR dampers. Firstly, the LQR controller for the numerical model of a multistory structure formulated using the dynamic dense method is constructed by using the classic LQR control theory. Secondly, an SVM model which comprises the observers and controllers in the control system is designed and trained to emulate the performance of the LQR controller. Finally, an online autofeedback semiactive control strategy is developed by resorting to SVM and then used for designing MR dampers. Simulation results show that the MR dampers utilizing the SVM-based semiactive control algorithm, which eliminates the local acceleration amplification phenomenon, can remarkably reduce the displacement, velocity, and acceleration responses of the structure.

Description: We propose an iterative algorithm for solving the reflexive solution of the quaternion matrix equation . When the matrix equation is consistent over reflexive matrix , a reflexive solution can be obtained within finite iteration steps in the absence of roundoff errors. By the proposed iterative algorithm, the least Frobenius norm reflexive solution of the matrix equation can be derived when an appropriate initial iterative matrix is chosen. Furthermore, the optimal approximate reflexive solution to a given reflexive matrix can be derived by finding the least Frobenius norm reflexive solution of a new corresponding quaternion matrix equation. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed methods.

Description: We investigate the relations between black hole thermodynamics and holographic transport coefficients in this paper. The formulae for DC conductivity and diffusion coefficient are verified for electrically single-charged black holes. We examine the correctness of the proposed expressions by taking charged dilatonic and single-charged STU black holes as two concrete examples, and compute the flows of conductivity and diffusion coefficient by solving the linear order perturbation equations. We then check the consistence by evaluating the Brown-York tensor at a finite radial position. Finally, we find that the retarded Green functions for the shear modes can be expressed easily in terms of black hole thermodynamic quantities and transport coefficients.

Description: The research on calculation of torque and drag in highly deviated wells has demonstrated a significant gap against oil exploration and development; with the increasingly rigorous situation, the drill string dynamics and the contact or friction of drill pipe with borehole wall under the drill string action of dynamic need more attention and urgent research work. Based on full-hole system dynamics, three-dimensional nonlinear dynamic model and dynamic torque and drag model were established in highly deviated well by using the finite element method. An application of analyzing typical torque and drag problems presented here provides a means to more accurate description of the contact relation between drill string and wellbore. The results show that those models established in this paper have complete adaptability for a complex three-dimensional borehole trajectory. For the actual well application, it will help to evaluate security performance of drill string in complex working conditions.

Description: In the existence of appropriate amount of disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA), precipitation would not occur in seawater and other natural waters even if the sample solution was adjusted to strong basicity, and the NH3-OPA-sulfite reaction at the optimal pH range could be used to determine ammonium in natural waters. Based on this, a modified o-phthalaldehyde fluorometric analytical method has been established to determine ultratrace ammonium in natural waters. Experimental parameters, including reagent concentration, pH, reaction time, and effect of EDTA, were optimized throughout the experiments based on univariate experimental design. The results showed that the optimal pH range was between 10.80 and 11.70. EDTA did not obviously affect the fluorometric intensity. The linearity range of the proposed method was 0.032–0.500 µmol/L, 0.250–3.00 µmol/L, and 1.00–20.0 µmol/L at the excitation/emission slit of 3 nm/5 nm, 3 nm/3 nm, and 1.5 nm/1.5 nm, respectively. The method detection limit was 0.0099 µmol/L. Compared to the classical OPA method, the proposed method had the advantage of being more sensitive and could quantify ultratrace ammonium without enrichment.

Description: We investigate the properties of the holographic Fermionic system dual to an anisotropic charged black brane bulk in Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion gravity theory. We consider the minimal coupling between the Dirac field and the gauge field in the bulk gravity theory and mainly explore the dispersion relation exponents of the Green functions of the dual Fermionic operators in the dual field theory. We find that along both the anisotropic and the isotropic directions the Fermi momentum will be effected by the anisotropy of the bulk theory. However, the anisotropy has influence on the dispersion relation which is almost linear for massless Fermions with charge . The universal properties that the mass and the charge of the Fermi possibly correspond to nonlinear dispersion relation are also investigated.
