Abstract:
Plant osmoregulation is modeled as an effective water potential storage component in parallel with the Soil‐Plant‐Atmosphere Continuum The osmoregulation component explains the nonmonotonic relation between plant transpiration and soil water salinity observed in halophytes The peak of transpiration shown by halophytes at high salinity emerges as a trade‐off between enhanced salt‐tolerance and productivity
