    Description: A high-resolution carbonate C-isotope (δ13Ccarb) stratigraphy for the Aptian is presented for the Cau core from Alicante, Spain. The studied succession, lower to upper Aptian, embraces the record of the Early Aptian OAE 1a. The data provided includes δ13Ccarb, δ18O isotopes, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and CaCO3. Four overlapping cores (D1 to D4) were drilled with an almost 100% recovery of a total (corrected for dip) thickness of 143 m. The cores were split in two parts. One half was described, photographed and scanned, and then sampled with a drill to obtain powdered samples for geochemical analyses. Also, small solid samples were taken from the drill for biostratigraphic characterization of the nannofossil and planktonic foraminifera associations. Second half was stored for archive and future research.

    Description: This dataset includes measurements on mixed layer planktonic foraminifera from IODP/ODP sites for boron isotopes and trace elements. Boron isotopes were measured after column chemistry and solution analyses on a Neptune multi collector ICPMS, while trace elements were measured on pre-columned aliquots of the same samples, using Element XR ICP-MS. Furthermore, the dataset includes the seawater pH and atmospheric CO2 calculated from B isotopes measurements and Mg/Ca-temperature estimates, for no-vital effect treatment (T. sac-vital effect corrections at Eocene d11Bsw conditions result in d11B offsets within analytical uncertainty), and no pH correction on Mg/Ca-temperature relationship (assuming T. sac like species). Carbonate system calculations incorporate MyAMI ion-pairing corrections (https://github.com/MathisHain/MyAMI), and surface Omega values specific for the Eocene and the paleo-latitude of the core location. Propagation of uncertainties for pH and CO2 is completed through 1000 Monte Carlo simulations.

    Description: Geochemical data from Ocean Drilling Program Site 1138A, core 69, spanning the Cenomanian–Turonian boundary interval (~94 Ma). The data were generated from marine sediment in the archive half of the core, which was opened and sampled for this project following approval from the IODP curatorial advisory board. The data consist of: (i) Bulk organic geochemistry (total organic carbon, hydrogen and oxygen indexes, total inorganic carbon) measured by Rock Eval pyrolysis and coulormat titration; (ii) Bulk organic carbon isotopes, measured on decarbonated sediments; (iii) Bulk sediment elemental concentrations measured by ICP-MS; (iv) Bulk sediment molybdenum isotopes, measured by MC-ICP-MS; (v) n-alkane compound-specific carbon isotopes measured by GCMS-IRMS; (vi) Maceral assemblage compositions, measured by visual petrography.
