Zusammenfassung 1. Der Durchstrom durch den modifizierten Gulf-III-Sampler „Hai” wurde mit 2 Strommessern bei Schleppgeschwindigkeiten von 2,5 bis 8,5 kn auf einer Meßstrecke von 1 sm bestimmt. 2. Der Durchstrom pro Seemeile variiert in aufeinanderfolgenden Fängen bei gleicher Fahrtstufe um maximal 20%. 3. Der Durchstrom pro Seemeile ist bei Schleppgeschwindigkeiten unter 4 kn relativ gering, steigt dann zu einem Optimum bei 6 kn an, das auch bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten annähernd gehalten wird.

Abstract Towing tests performed with a modified Gulf III-sampler (“Hai”) with flowmeters revealed an increase in the amount of water filtered per nautical mile with increasing towing speeds from 2.5 to about 6 knots. At higher speeds (6–9 knots) the filtration capacity remains almost constant. The variation between the readings of successive hauls at equal speeds does not exceed 20% and is smallest at 4 to 7 knots.
