Abstract: Abstract A floristic treatment is presented for the Verbenaceae in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra, southwest of Minas Gerais, with vegetation represented predominantly by cerrados and campos rupestres. In total, eight taxa belonging to three genera were recorded: Lippia filifolia, L. lupulina, L. nana, L. rotundifolia, L. sericea, Petrea volubilis, Stachytarpheta longispicata subsp. brevibracteata and Stachytarpheta sp., which is possibly a new species. In order to recognize these taxa, descriptions of the species, identification key, pictures, geographic distribution, ecological and taxonomic comments are presented.

Abstract: Abstract A taxonomic study of Aquifoliaceae is presented for Serra Negra, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Serra Negra is part of the Mantiqueira Complex, located in the southern portion of Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais. The floristic inventory was performed based on materials from expeditions linked to the “Estudos florísticos na Serra Negra, Minas Gerais” project. Those expeditions occurred between 2003 and 2010. In Serra Negra, Aquifoliaceae is represented by four species: Ilex dumosa, I. paraguariensis, I. subcordata, and I. theezans. Descriptions, identification key, illustrations of diagnostic characters and comments on the taxonomy, ecology and distribution of the species are provided.

Abstract: We report new records of the recently reestablished Lamanonia ulei (Engl.) L.B.Sm. (Cunoniaceae) from southeastern Brazil. This species is currently known by only eight specimens from Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and S & atilde;o Paulo states. We present seven new records that include Esp & iacute;rito Santo state in the species distribution, and expand its north and east limits of occurrence. We also present a taxonomic description, photos, occurrence map, conservation status assessment of L. ulei , and an identification key for all the species of Lamanonia Vell. from Brazil.

Abstract: Abstract The Parque Estadual da Serra do Papagaio is located in Southern Minas Gerais, and is part of the Mantiqueira Complex, with vegetation composed for campos de altitude, dense and mixed ombrophilous forests mosaic. The present study aimed to carry out a floristic treatment for Verbenaceae in this Conservation Unit. The family is represented in the Park by ten taxa distributed in four genera: Glandularia (G. lobata var. glabrata e G. phlogiflora), Lantana (L. camara and L. fucata), Lippia (L. lupulina, L. rotundifolia, L. stachyoides var. martiana and L. triplinervis) e Verbena (V. alata and V. hirta). Verbena alata stands out as a new occurrence for the state of Minas Gerais, and Lippia rotundifolia and L. stachyoides var. martiana, common in the Espinhaço Range, are recorded for the first time in the Serra da Mantiqueira, in the Atlantic domain. Identification keys, descriptions, illustrations and ecological, taxonomic and geographic distribution comments of taxa are presented.

In: Hoehnea, FapUNIFESP (SciELO), Vol. 46, No. 3 ( 2019)
Abstract: ABSTRACT Verbenaceae currently comprises 35 genera and around 800 species distributed in the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania. In Brazil, there are 16 genera and approximately 280 species, with higher richness in the Cerrado and the Atlantic Forest, mainly in campos rupestres and campos de altitude. The Parque Nacional do Caparaó is located in the Serra da Mantiqueira, the border of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo States. This park stands out due to the presence of the highest point in the Southeast of Brazil, the Pico da Bandeira, with 2,890 m of elevation. The vegetation comprises different phytophysiognomies including dense ombrophilous forest (montane and high montane), montane semideciduous seasonal forest and campos de altitude. Verbenaceae in this conservation unit is represented by five genera and nine infrageneric taxa including two possible new species belonging to the genera Lantana and Lippia, in addition to Citharexylum solanaceum, Glandularia lobata, Lantana fucata, L. nivea, L. robusta, Stachytarpheta cayennensis, and Verbena rigida. The occurrence of L. nivea is confirmed for Brazil, with the first record for Espírito Santo State. We present an identification key, descriptions, photograph plates and comments on the ecology, taxonomy and geographic distribution of the taxa.
